After an in-depth and highly energetic trip to see the whales in Maui in December 2025, I would like to facilitate trips to see the whales in Hawaii so that as many people as possible can enjoy the exquisite pleasure of being in the presence of these playful, wise, gentle, powerful, tender, and communicative beings.
Maui is full of energy. Especially in winter, when all the whales from Alaska have found their way to the warm waters of Hawaii and are now giving birth to their babies or mating again.
Being able to be close to these wonderful and impressive mammals is a deeply moving experience and gift. From Lahaina, we set out a total of five times in small whale watching boats and, after just a few minutes, we see all the whales that are off the coast of the island. It is impressive and heart-opening.
The nature on Maui is diverse. Turquoise blue Pacific Ocean, golden, black, and red beaches, lush green, barren brown, colorful flowers, and then the Haleakala volcano, over 3000 m high. We explore not only the Haleakala crater but also the Iao Valley, which in earlier times was reserved for healers and kings because of its special energy. We explore the island in our rental car and let ourselves be captivated and carried away by the changing scenery.
The temperatures in winter are a very pleasant 23–29 degrees Celsius.
Winter temperatures are very pleasant, ranging from 23 to 29 degrees Celsius, but it can sometimes be below freezing on the volcano. Maui is famous for its North Shore, where world surfing champions are made. So there is always a more or less strong wind.
We are preparing for this trip together so that we all feel comfortable and safe, and our needs are known and coordinated. We will be staying in a large condo right by the ocean with an unobstructed view of the waves and the whales swimming by. Our beach is right in front of the apartment and is perfect for swimming and snorkeling. It is a moving, profound, beautiful other world. And we are right in the middle of it!
The goal of this trip is to open our hearts wide to the beauty of the earth, the diversity of life on earth, and the uniqueness of our existence, to bring it home with us and then share it with our loved ones.
The trip to Maui
We will all book the same flight and meet at Zurich Airport to travel together. After arriving in Maui, we will drive to our accommodation and move into our beautiful temporary home. Then, with the sound of the Pacific waves in our ears, we will let Maui work its magic on us as we sleep.
